On 18th September 2010, Iarnród Éireann suspended their passenger service on the line. Thankfully the National Transport Authority (NTA) attached a number of conditions to the suspension:
• The line must be maintained to a standard fit for use and this will be independently audited. We will also monitor the line.
• A community rail partnership (CRP) must be facilitated.
Three train operating companies from other EU countries have expressed an interest in operating trains on the line.
The Save the Rail group has established itself as a legal entity known as Swifft - South Wexford Integrated Forum for Transport.
Swifft is currently working on two key items:
- with the relevant parties to bring the restoration of services to fruition.
- with Iarnród Éireann on a community rail partnership for the Rosslare Europort to Dublin line (specifically the Co. Wexford section of it i.e. Rosslare stations, Wexford, Enniscorthy and Gorey).
